VTV.vn - Vietnam sent nearly 36,000 workers, including more than 11,000 women, to work abroad in the first three months of 2024, according to the Department of Overseas Labour (DOLAB).

The figure is equivalent to 28% of the full-year target, said DOLAB, noting that the number for March alone was more than 12,700.

The largest recipient of Vietnamese workers was Japan, with 23,364 workers, followed by Taiwan (China) and the Republic of Korea, which received 9,781 and 707 Vietnamese workers respectively.

In 2023, the number of Vietnamese workers sent abroad rose by 33.3% to nearly 160,000, around half of whom were destined for Japan. More than 58,600 worked in Taiwan (China), while the number for the Republic of Korea was over 11,600.

Vietnam has set a target to send 125,000 workers abroad in 2024, focusing on markets with high and stable incomes.
