VTV.vn - Vietnam’s Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s Ministry of Employment and Labour have agreed to consider re-signing the agreement on labour and employment cooperation between the two countries.

The information was revealed at the working session between Vietnamese Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung and RoK Minister of Employment and Labour An Kyung Duk within the framework of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue’s visit to the RoK.

The two sides agreed that labour-employment cooperation has made an important contribution to the Vietnam-RoK strategic cooperative partnership.

Minister An Kyung Duk highly appreciated the cooperation between Vietnam’s Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and the RoK’s Ministry of Employment and Labour in many fields in recent years.

Discussing the implementation of the RoK Employment Permit System (EPS), Minister An Kyung Duk shared that, in the context of the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, the sending of Vietnamese workers to RoK has faced many difficulties.

However, he affirmed that the RoK will continue to pay attention to and create conditions for Vietnamese workers to go to the RoK to work and committed to promoting cooperation between the two ministries in many fields.

Minister Dao Ngoc Dung valued the cooperation results achieved between the two sides and proposed that the RoK Ministry of Employment and Labour expand new occupations in which the RoK requires more Vietnamese workers.

The two ministers also agreed to consider the re-signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on labour and employment cooperation between the two ministries.

RoK is the second largest market of Vietnamese workers while Vietnam also ranks second in the number of workers working in the country. This is also one of the most stable, high-income and favoured markets for Vietnamese workers.
