Vietnam renewable energy week gets underway
VTV.vn - A workshop discussing barriers to the implementation of renewable energy development policies was held this morning in Ho Chi Minh City as part of Vietnam Renewable Energy Week.

The event is organized by the Vietnam Sustainable Energy Alliance and the Vietnam Climate Change Working Group. Participants discussed the roadmap for Vietnam's energy transition towards sustainability, especially with the promotion of solar power, because Decision 11 and Circular 16 on renewable energy development policies in Vietnam have been ineffective.

Vietnam is forecasted to face difficulties relating to power security by 2020 due to the shortage of nuclear and hydroelectric power. With proper solutions and support, the power sector can still shift towards cleaner power production and consumption.

This event also launched the initiative "A Million Green Roofs for Vietnamese Prosperity" with a hope to bring solar power to each household. Vietnamese people are expected to become part of the energy transfer process and also its beneficiaries.
