Vietnam records 500 new domestic COVID-19 cases

VTV.vn - Vietnam recorded 504 new COVID-19 cases, including 500 domestic and four imported, in the past six hours to 6pm on July 6, announced the Ministry of Health.

Of the new cases, 271 were detected in Ho Chi Minh City, which is the country's current largest hotspot.

Meanwhile, Dong Thap reported 99 cases, Binh Duong 92, Phu Yen 16, Long An eight, Nghe An three, two each in Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Hanoi and Tra Vinh, one each in Lang Son, Hung Yen and An Giang.

On July 6, a total of 1,029 infections, including 10 imported cases, were confirmed while 55 patients were given the all-clear.

As of 6.30pm on the day, Vietnam had logged 20,183 domestic and 1,881 imported cases.

The number of recoveries is 8,077, while the death toll is 94.

There have been 18,613 cases recorded since April 27, when the fourth outbreak hit the country.

Twelve cities and localities have gone through at least 14 consecutive days without new cases.

Among active patients undergoing treatment, 311 have tested negative to the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 once, 133 twice, and 72 thrice.

As of 5pm on July 6, Vietnam's COVID-19 vaccine fund had received more than VND8.05 trillion (US$350.01 million) from 379,988 organisations and individuals, according to the managing board of the fund.
