VTV.vn - The National Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and the government's interdisciplinary working group co-hosted a conference on January 14th to discuss preparations for the 16th United Nations Day of Vesak (UNDV).

This is the most important Buddhist holiday in the Buddhist calendar, which celebrates three important events - the birth, full awakening, and the passing away of the historical Buddha.

The event will be held at the Tam Chúc Pagoda, Kim Bảng District, Hà Nam province from May 12 to 14th.

The main theme of the 2019 UNDV is the Buddhist Approach to Global Leadership and Shared Responsibilities for Sustainable Societies. 120 nations have registered for UNDV this year, including 1,500 government leaders, officials, and heads of Buddhist sanghas.
