To commemorate the occasion, a number of activities were held to honour outstanding people with disabilities and support the community. According to the Association in Support of Vietnamese Handicapped and Orphans, in 2017 alone, the association provided vocational training for 1600 people with disabilities. 70% of the community has jobs that bring in a monthly income. Other activities were also held such as house building, capital lending, as well as medicinal supply and treatment.
In Vietnam, there are currently 7.6 million people with disabilities, accounting for 8% of the population group aged 5 years and above, according to the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.
