Vietnam, Chile strengthen ties

VTV.vn - On Thursday and Friday, Deputy Prime Minister Vương Đình Huệ visited Chile and held talks with Chilean leaders to strengthen relations with the country.

At a meeting with President of the Senate Carlos Montes and members of the Chile-Vietnam friendship parliamentary group, the Deputy Prime Minister expressed his hope that the National Congress of Chile would soon ratify the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), which both Vietnam and Chile are members of.

At a meeting with Chilean Foreign Minister Roberto Ampuero, the Vietnamese representative affirmed that Chile is one of Vietnam's leading partners in Latin America, affirming Vietnam's desire to promote a comprehensive partnership between the two countries across a number of fields, especially trade and investment.

Meanwhile, at a meeting with Chilean Finance Minister, Felipe Larrain, Deputy Prime Minister Vương Đình Huệ asked both sides to promote cooperation and exchange in macro-financial management and complete a legal framework to allow the businesses of both countries to get better access to markets in Southeast Asia and Latin America.
