VTV.vn - A meeting responding to National Action month against HIV/AIDS and World AIDS Day was held this morning in Bac Ninh.

This year's theme is "90-90-90 to end AIDS in Vietnam". 90-90-90 refers to a United Nations goal stating that by 2020, 90 percent of people living with HIV will know their status, 90 percent will be treated with antiretroviral drugs (ARV), and 90 percent of ARV treatment can control the viral load in low status patients. Ultimately, the aim is that HIV/AIDS will be eradicated by the end of 2030.

For the eighth consecutive year, Vietnam has seen a drop in the number of new HIV infections, the number of cases that move to the AIDS stage, and the number of deaths caused by AIDS. The nation has implemented effective services for prevention, care, support, and treatment for people with HIV/AIDS.

Following the meeting, activities such as a flash mob, a cycling parade, and art exhibits were held. These activities aim to raise public awareness and attract the attention of politicians and people who can help support people living with HIV.

Participants in the event visited and presented gifts to children living with HIV in Bac Ninh Province. Although events like this one are a great first step, the fight against the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Vietnam will need more effort and support from the whole community.
