VTV.vn - Vietnam is currently listed as the fifth biggest investor in Cambodia.

According to the Cambodian Government, Vietnam's investment projects not only reveal the close ties between the two countries in terms of economy, but also intensify the friendship and solidarity between the two nations. The official visit of Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc to Cambodia, which starts today, April 24th, is expected to give a new focus to economic relations between Vietnam and Cambodia.

Currently, Vietnam has invested in nearly 200 projects in Cambodia, with a registered capital of nearly 3 billion US dollars. Of which, the most notable project is the 100 thousand-hectare rubber plantation project invested by Vietnam Rubber Industry Corporation with a registered capital of 1 billion US dollars. After 10 years of operating, the project has created tens of thousands of jobs for locals. Moreover, infrastructure including electricity, roads, schools, and fresh water sources were built in more than 20 localities, creating big changes for the rural areas of Cambodia.

Vietnamese businesses have invested in Cambodia in many areas including aviation, telecommunications, finance, healthcare and agriculture. In the finance sector, five top Vietnamese banks have opened branches in Cambodia. In addition, Viettel Group, together with Metfone, are affirming their success in the country by contributing to the development of telecommunications.

Thanks to this enduring friendship and the support of both Governments, there's a good business environment for Vietnamese businesses in Cambodia. Enhancing the investment cooperation in Cambodia has also helped improve the traditional solidarity of the two nations.
