Vietnam applies new Nobel prize-winning cancer treatment
VTV.vn - The Vietnam National Hospital of Oncology (Hospital K) is using immunotherapy, a type of cancer treatment that won the 2018 Nobel Prize in physiology and medicine.

The treatment was discovered by American and Japanese immunologists James P. Allison and Tasuku Honjo. Since 2017, 50 patients suffering from blood cancer, malignant lymphomas, and several digestive and gynecological cancers have been cured using this method.

According to the hospital's representative, this method cannot be used for all cancer patients but usually applies to patients with untreated, terminal and metastatic cancer. The cost for one treatment cycle is approximately VND60 million and is not covered by insurance. With this treatment, patients must use one or two vials once every three weeks.
