VTV.vn - Low-cost carrier Vietjet Air held a ceremony on June 4 to announce the first direct air route connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Brisbane (Australia).

The ceremony was attended by Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese along with representatives of leaders, enterprises, and people of the two countries.

The route will be operated on June 16 with two return flights every Monday and Friday. The flights take off from Ho Chi Minh City at 10:50 (local time) and land in Brisbane at 21:55 (local time). The return flights will depart at 23:30 (local time) and land at Ho Chi Minh City at 05:10 in the following day (local time).

Speaking at the ceremony, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese welcomed new routes to Australia, especially Vietjet’s route, the first route connecting Vietnam and Brisbane - a beautiful city of Australia which will host the 2032 Summer Olympics.

Brisbane is the third city of Australia to which Vietjet is operating direct flights, following Melbourne and Sydney. It’s also the first route connecting Vietnam to Brisbane and the state of Queensland.

The new route will shorten the traveling time and create favourable conditions for people and tourists to fly between Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s leading economic hub, and Brisbane, Australia’s third largest city.

It also contributes to promoting trade linkage between Vietnam and Brisbane, Queensland, and Australia in general, while further developing bilateral relations.
