VESAK celebrations mark Buddha’s birthday

This year, the occasion has fallen on May 29. The various activities Buddhist leaders, monks, nuns and lay people are taking part in include incense offering to Buddha, a Buddha-bathing ceremony, and dove and balloon releasing to pray for peace. Buddhist followers have been called upon to uphold their traditions around the country, which benefit society and encourage people to perform good deeds.
