US - Philippines commit freedom of navigation in East Sea

The two sides reiterated their commitment to principles, including freedom of navigation in the East Sea. The two leaders also stressed the importance of peacefully solving disputes in the East Sea under international law as reflected in the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). Besides, both presidents believed that trust-building and conflict prevention were essential. The Philippines is the last destination of US president Donald Trump's tour of Asia.
