U23 Vietnam's victory at AFC U23 tournament praised

Vietnam defeated Iraq on penalties in the quarterfinals of the 2018 AFC U23 Championship in China on Saturday, securing a place in the semifinals.

South Korea's Sports Q praised Vietnam's victory as "Another miracle"  and dubbed the Vietnamese team as "a rival for South Korea in the finals".

Thailand's leading sports newspaper SiamSports covered Vietnam's victory, saying "History was made for Southeast Asia" as Vietnam became the first ASEAN country to enter the semi-finals of the AFC U23 Championship since it was first held.

Another article on SiamSports talked about the celebrations by Vietnamese football fans on the eve of this victory.

The report said that Vietnam has the ability to compete with top Asian football teams and that Thailand should be aware of this potential rival in the future. Vietnam will play against Qatar on January 23rd.
