VTV.vn - Tourists from across the country as well as foreign visitors are flocking to popular attractions in HCMC, Binh Thuan, Khanh Hoa, Phu Quoc, Ba Ria-Vung Tau and other localities to celebrate the Lunar New Year holiday (Tet), the longest holiday of the year.

The most favorite destinations for people in HCMC to enjoy the glamorous Tet atmosphere are spring flower festivals on Nguyen Hue Boulevard or in Tao Dan Park, Phu My Hung Urban Area, and Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park.

The “island pearl” of Phu Quoc off Kien Giang Province is also a hot spot on the tourism map, attracting a great number of Chinese, South Korean and Russian tourists.

Data of Agoda booking website shows that Phu Quoc is among the 10 most favorite tourist attractions this Tet.

Speaking to The Saigon Times, Trinh Hang, director of the Tourism Department of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, said tourist arrivals to the province are on the rise as previous Tet holidays.

He said 2019 will mark a milestone in the province’s tourism development as the local authorities have approved many tourism projects to help improve service quality and to meet the rising demand.

Khanh Hoa Province, with the coastal city of Nha Trang as a hot spot, has seen a surge in tourist arrivals. The Tourism Department of Khanh Hoa expects more than 205,000 visitors, both domestic and international, during Tet.

Hotel room rates have risen slightly and room occupancy rate of four-and five-star resorts and hotels has reached 80-90% on average.

Binh Thuan Province, with the “resort paradise” of Phan Thiet, is definitely among the most popular attractions during Tet. Some hotels and resorts in Phan Thiet have been fully occupied.

The provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism expects around 110,000 visitors on the holiday, up 22% compared to the same period last year.
