Torential downpours to affect Vietnam's northern region

The mountainous and midland areas from Lang Sơn Province to Son La Province will be at the centre of the downpour, with the total expected rainfall of 120 to 250 millimetres. Overnight downpours are expected to raise water levels in the Red River, where it flows through Yen Bai Province, to emergency status. Flood levels on the Thao River in Yen Bai Province are forecasted to reach first-to-second-degree alerts. There is also high risks of landslides and flash floods in the provinces of Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Son La, Lao Cai, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Bac Can, and Quang Ninh.
