Third homegrown COVID-19 vaccine approved for human trials

A representative from the Ministry of Health said that the COVIVAC vaccine, produced by the IVAC company, was first developed in May 2020.

Before the clinical trial, the vaccine was sent for quality assessment and was tested on animals in the US, India, and Vietnam. 120 volunteers aged 18 to 75 will be selected for the first phase. Volunteers will be divided into 5 groups and given doses of 1mcg (microgram), 3mcg, 10mcg, and 1mcg. Each volunteer will be given 2 shots, 28 days apart, scheduled for the end of February 2021.
