Before the studio recordings, The Homecoming Day 2026 crew conducted on-location filming in Africa, the United States, the United Kingdom, and other regions, following the program’s featured individuals. The studio shoot marked the final stage, bringing the stories and characters together into a cohesive whole before the program officially entered post-production.

Using a grain of rice as its central symbolic anchor, The Homecoming Day 2026 opens up a springtime space that encompasses both nature and the inner world. It is a season for sowing seeds of reunion, peace, and longing for the homeland in the hearts of the Vietnamese people, wherever they may be.
Previously, “The Homecoming Day” made a strong impression with the theme “Willpower and the Path”, focusing on stories of Vietnamese individuals who overcame geographical barriers to bring knowledge, technology, and aspirations for change back to their homeland. Building on this, this year’s program takes an even more personal approach, choosing the grain of riceas its central symbol to represent wet-rice civilization and the deep-rooted collective memory of the Vietnamese people.
According to the production team, the grain of rice is not merely a seed, but a symbol of abundance nurtured by human hands and a resilient rhythm of life tied to the land and the passage of time. On a deeper level, it also mirrors the Vietnamese spirit itself: small and humble, shaped by countless upheavals, yet always capable of sprouting, rising, and taking root.

The stories told in “The Homecoming Day: The Season of Sowing Seeds” are thus stories of enduring “Vietnamese seeds” growing steadily in foreign lands. The program takes viewers to many corners of the world, where Vietnamese people have chosen to settle, even in the most challenging of circumstances, and quietly sustain their faith in life through dedication and perseverance.
In remote regions of Africa, some Vietnamese have sown not only crops, but also livelihoods and hope for local communities. In places halfway around the world , a song nurtured by family memories and a natural love for one’s roots continues to resonate, like an unbreakable thread connecting them back to the motherland.
