The Kindness Journey, accompanied by young people passionate about fulfilling wishes and sharing joys and sorrows with those in need, has brought unexpected happiness to pediatric patients at the Da Nang Oncology Hospital, adding vibrancy to their small dreams.
Beats of Love
The Beats of Love Club was founded on February 14, 2016. At present, the group consists of about 30 members and volunteers who are students from various universities in Da Nang. After 8 years of operation and development, the club has completed around 40 charity projects. Originating from a visit to chat with cancer patients at the Da Nang Oncology Hospital, the initial idea was to fulfill someof the patient's wishes through the Wish Project. Subsequent well-known projects of the club include Loving Meals, Loving Spring, and Brave Steps, etc.
The Kindness Journey in July Begins
With the support of the THACO Group and the Beats of Love Club, the Kindness Journey has brought small joys to pediatric patients. During the summer, while children are happily playing, the pediatric patients at Da Nang Oncology Hospital are confined to their hospital beds. With limited space to play, they find joy in storybooks and small organs. The Kindness Journey, together with the Beats of Love Club, fulfilled the hospital's long-standing wish to renovate the playroom for these children. The Dream Room was quickly created, filled with unique bookshelves, interesting toys, and adorable stuffed animals.
Additionally, the children enjoyed delicious meals prepared by the club members. A musical performance and magic show also entertained the young audience.
A special highlight of the Kindness Journey was the continuation of the "Wish Project" for cancer patients. Pediatric patient Phan Thuy Quynh Nhu, diagnosed with a neuroendocrine cell tumor in her chest that had metastasized to her bones, was chosen to have her wish granted. Despite her family's difficult situation, she remains resilient and dreams of becoming a doctor to help other children with similar conditions.
To help Nhu achieve her distant dream, the Kindness Journey and the club surprised her with a doctor's coat and gave her the title of "Healing Doctor" to serve as a spiritual support for other pediatric patients. She also received a gift worth VND20 million to help with her treatment and prolong her life.
Speaking about the pediatric patients at Da Nang Oncology Hospital, Dr. Doan Quoc Bao, Deputy Head of Internal Medicine 3, stated that they are all brave warriors, and the hospital aims to create better treatment and living conditions for them. Programs like the Kindness Journey and the "Beats of Love Club" provide mental support to help the children stay optimistic and find joy amidst their treatment challenges.
A memorable aspect of the day was the children's dream paintings. , each with a unique shade of colour, united by love and the heartfelt beats of their hearts.
