Tet gifts given to disadvantaged households

VTV.vn - Gifts continue to be presented to the policy beneficiaries and disadvantaged households nationwide as the Lunar New Year (Tet) – the nation’s biggest festival of the year is approaching.

On January 18, the National Assembly (NA) deputy delegation of Phu Yen Province coordinated with other units and sponsors to give gifts to poor families and victims of Agent Orange/dioxin in the central coastal locality.

With a total of VND 1.25 billion mobilised, the delegation has supported the construction of 10 gratitude homes for policy and poor households in Phu Yen. Each house is supported with the amount of VND50 million.

On the occasion, the NA delegation also awarded 1,500 gifts, each worth VND500,000, to local Agent Orange/dioxin victims.

Speaking at the event, Dinh Van Nha, Deputy Chairman of the 14th NA’s Finance and Budget Committee, who is also a member of the NA deputy delegation of Phu Yen, sent greetings to policy beneficiaries in the province as Tet approaches, while praising Phu Yen for good implementation of social security policy, poverty reduction and Tet caring activities.

On the same day, the Thanh Hoa Province Red Cross Society coordinated with the Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Border Guard Command, the Hanoi Medical University - Thanh Hoa Branch, and donors to organise a "Charity Market" 2021 programme in Quang Chieu Commune, Muong Lat District.

Eight stalls were set up at the fair, providing essential items, household goods, clothes and medicine for local people. The organisers awarded 20 gifts, each with a cash value of VND500,000 and a gift receipt worth VND330,000, to 20 women from families in difficult circumstances, as well as offering free gift vouchers, each worth VND330,000, to 247 households in Pung Village, Quang Chieu Commune. The Provincial Women's Union and Military Command also awarded 30 gifts, each worth VND300,000, to local disadvantaged students.

Also, on January 18, the People's Committee of A Luoi District, Thua Thien Hue Province, visited and gave gifts to forces on duty to prevent unauthorised entries and COVID-19 response along the border line in the locale.

Under the cold below 10C, the delegation visited all 18 border posts located along the border of the two provinces of Thua Thien Hue (Vietnam) and Salavan (Laos). At each point, they presented rice, instant noodles and warm blankets to the forces on duty.

While encouraging the officials, leaders of A Luoi District also urged the forces in charge of enhancing control of both illegal entries and goods along the border line as Tet draws closer.
