Sugar cane farmers face losses

Thousands of hectares of sugar cane plantations have been damaged due to low consumption. Meanwhile, sugar in inventory has totaled 530,000 tons.

Furthermore, smuggled sugar and fake sugar are worsening the situation. Another bitter sugar harvest seems very likely for farmers. In provinces from the central to the southern regions, sugar cane crops have ripened but little is harvested. Sunny and windy weather is accelerating the spoiling of sugar canes. In addition, the dry atmosphere also raises the risk of fire.
