Stricter punishments for drunk drivers in South Korea
VTV.vn - In South Korea, the government has started applying stronger punishments on drivers who are caught driving under the influence of alcohol, with the offense being considered as bad as "murder".

The country has also announced that it would increase the penalty for drunk drivers who cause deaths, instead of just sentencing them to 1 to 3 years in prison. In addition, the government will detain those who regularly drive after drinking. If a person has three or more drunk-driving-related offenses, he will be investigated and detained.

South Korean authorities were forced to act on the issue after a drunk driver hit a pedestrian in Busan, killing one person. Relatives of the victim requested that policies be reformed to protect civilians' lives.

This proposal has received the support of over 200,000 people.
