Dang Anh Tu’s life began with formidable trials from a very young age. At just 8 years old, he suffered a brain hemorrhage. A year later, he had a severe fever and was diagnosed with a cerebral aneurysm. These events seriously impacted both his vision and mobility. There were moments when hope seemed to vanish, especially during the 24-hour life-saving surgery that he had to endure. During his recovery, Tu’s mother gave her morning market job to care for him, while his father took care of him in the afternoons – a long, arduous journey for the entire family.
However, it was precisely these harsh challenges that forged Dang Anh Tu's strong and determined character. “Your legs may tire, but your mind must never give up” – that is the life motto that has guided him through every obstacle.
Tu’s spirit truly shone when he discovered his passion for athletics. Despite a his fragile body and frequent back pain, which made lying on his side or back impossible, he never gave up. With unyielding willpower, he won a gold medal in his very first athletic competition – a deeply meaningful achievement that he shares on the show. That medal not only opened new doors but also stands as a testament to his incredible perseverance.
But Tu’s journey doesn't stop at sports. He is also a compassionate soul committed to supporting others. He founded the Tam Duc massage and acupressure center with the aim of helping others facing similar hardship challenges. His goal is to create jobs and enable the visually impaired to live independently and support their families. Currently, Tu is also an active member of the Step Club, an action group for the visually impaired, continuing to spread positive energy and support others in similar circumstances. With unwavering dedication, he is now pursuing a medical assistant degree, with the dream of one day opening his own health care center where he can serve the community on a larger scale.
In a special twist of fate, it was through these social and community activities that Tu met someone who truly understands and shares his worldview – Nghiem Thu Loan, founder of the Step Club and a featured guest in Episode 36 of “Station of Love”, which aired in 2022. Their serendipitous encounter, both heartwarming and meaningful, promises a journey of shared compassion and unconditional love.
Dang Anh Tu’s story is about more than overcoming adversity. It is a powerful message of determination, empathy, resilience, and the desire to give back. “Station of Love” hopes to inspire millions of viewers with this narrative, reminding us all that challenges are only temporary barriers if we have the strength to overcome them – and that each of us has the potential to become a “resilient heart” on our journey.
Tune in to “Station of Love” with the theme “Resilient Heart” at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 28, 2025, on VTV1 – Vietnam Television.
