State President meets with Lao former leader

VTV.vn - State President Tran Dai Quang met with former General Secretary of Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, former Lao President Khamtay Siphandone in Champasak Province yesterday during his state visit to Laos.

At the meeting, State President Tran Dai Quang spoke highly the contribution of the Lao former general secretary to strengthening the relationship between the two countries.

He affirmed that the recent visits of General Secretary and President Bounnhang Volachith and Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith showed the determination of Vietnam and Laos in promote ties between the two sides. He also hoped that former general secretary Khamtay Siphandone would continue to share experience to further develop the relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

Later on the same day, State President Tran Dai Quang met with staff of the Vietnamese Consulate General and Vietnamese community in Pakse District, Champasak Province. On the behalf of Vietnamese government, the State President gave 10 thousand USD to help Vietnamese people in the district cope with the consequences of a recent fire that destroyed Dao Huong Market and 10 thousand USD for other community activities.
