The latest data from the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) revealed that Vietnam exported an estimated 3.78 billion USD worth of shrimp in 2020, a 12.4% increase from last year.
The US is the largest importer of Vietnamese shrimp, having imported an increase of 34% this year. Meanwhile, shrimp exports to the EU are growing stably thanks to the EVFTA.
According to exporters, white-leg shrimp has been popular in retail markets and account for 72% of Vietnam's shrimp export turnover this year; a year when processed shrimps were more sought after than frozen shrimp.
