VTV.vn - The Sene Dolta festival, one of the year's three main festivals for the Khmer people, kicked off on Sunday in the southern provinces of Vietnam.

Sene Dolta festival usually takes place from the 29th of August in the Lunar calendar and lasts for about 3 days. Sene Dolta is meant to remember ancestors and family relatives, similar to the Vu Lan Festival of Vietnam’s Kinh people. During this time, families will cook offerings while entertaining events are held at temples and pagodas. According to the Khmer community in Can Tho, they will do their best to prepare for the upcoming Sene Dolta, despite the bad harvest this year.
