Co-organised by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the seminar saw the participation of representatives from 11 provinces and cities in the Red River Delta along with experts from a number of central ministries and branches.
At the seminar, the delegates were introduced to the Provincial Green Index 2022; the implementation of the goals of the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26); and regulations, policies, and laws on economic development associated with environmental protection.
The delegates also discussed solutions to improve: the quality of environmental governance towards sustainable development; the sharing and exchanging of experiences in transforming economic models associated with environmental protection; the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and environmental pollution; the development of green and sustainable cities; as well as the investment environment and the provincial competitiveness index.
Leaders of some localities have raised their experiences in attracting investment; promulgate regulations on protection, prevention, and response to environmental incidents, such as: regulations on coordination in the management and protection of water resources and the management of hydro-meteorological activities in the province; and procedures for incident response and drills to be ready to respond to incidents and disasters that cause water pollution and unsafety of water supply in the province.
