Seeking Breakthrough Solutions for Next-Generation Television

Digital transformation hasaffected almost every  aspect  of life, becoming an inevitable trend and an objective requirement for development. In this context, on April 3, Vietnam Television and CMC Technology Group jointly held a seminar entitled “Infrastructure and Digital Solutions for Next-Gen Television” at the VTV Headquarters.

The event was attended by Dinh Dac Vinh – Deputy General Director of VTV – and representatives from VTV units including the Center for Digital Content Production and Development (VTV Digital), the Center for Broadcast Technology and Transmission, the Technical and Decoration Center, the Center for Advertising and Licensing (TVAd), the Department of Programming, the Department of Multimedia Broadcasting, the Department of Special Reports and Educational Programs, along with representatives from CMC Corporation.

The seminar presented solutions aimed at improving television service quality and delivering the best viewer experiences, including solutions to increase  digital infrastructure capacity, optimize costs, and store digital content; solutions to build a Data Lake to leverage digital data and harness AI potential in content recommendation; and solutions to strengthen information security and system testing.

This event marked a new milestone in the partnership between the two organizations to jointly create breakthrough solutions in digital transformation and develop technological infrastructure in Vietnam.

Speaking at the seminar, Deputy General Director Dinh Dac Vinh emphasized that in the context of strong digital transformation, Vietnam Television pays special attention to critical issues such as cybersecurity, the implementation of AI at VTV, and the Data Lake system – an expansive data storage solution capable of storing structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data from various sources such as edge computing, cloud platforms, physical systems, or any high-trust data blocks.

The exchanges and discussions at the seminar were not only about finding solutions but also reaffirmed Vietnam Television’s commitment to transformation as the national broadcaster.

On the topic of security and information safety, Mr. Pham Anh Chien – Deputy Director of VTV Digital – emphasized that as VTVgo becomes the National Digital Television Platform, security has become a top priority.

“According to the classification of information system safety levels, VTVgo is at level 3, which requires stringent security and cybersecurity protocols. VTVgo is also a frequent  target  of cyberattacks, especially during major national events. That is a challenge we must face. VTVgo is increasingly popular among the public, and it has become the National Digital Television Platform” - said the Deputy Director of VTV Digital.

Currently, VTVgo provides OTT content to  audiences in Vietnam and overseas Vietnamese communities. Therefore, the user traffic on this platform is enormous. Especially during popular programs, the traffic  can spike hundreds of times ,, requiring a robust CDN distribution system and a powerful cloud infrastructure.
