Road to Olympia Mount: Dominant Performance, Ha Tinh Schoolboy Charges to Victory

This week’s competition featured four contestants: Tran Thi Thuy Lam (Che Guevara High School, Vinh Long), Nguyen Khanh Ly (Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Lai Chau), Tran Cong Dung (Ha Tinh High School for the Gifted), and Duong Tuan Kiet (Tien Lang High School, Hai Phong).

In the Individual Warm-up round, Thuy Lam scored 20 points, while Tuan Kiet earned 30 . Khanh Ly and Cong Dung both got off to a  strong start with 40 points each. Moving into the General Warm-up, Cong Dung consistently answered correctly, taking the lead with 70 points. Thuy Lam and Khanh Ly followed with 35 points each, while Tuan Kiet trailed behind with 30.

During the Overcome Obstacle round, the contestants had to identify a four-letter keyword. Cong Dung rang the bell immediately after the first clue and confidently answered “So Do” (Fortunate). Despite  the  limited  number of clues, his decisive move paid off, helping him maintain his lead with 140 points.

In the Speed-up round, both quick thinking and accuracy were essential. While none    of the contestants scored on the first question, Cong Dung dominated the next three, earning 40 points each time and widening the gap significantly. He  finished the round with 260 points, well  ahead of Thuy Lam (85), Tuan Kiet (80), and Khanh Ly (65).

Entering the Finish round with the highest score, Cong Dung competed first, choosing a 20-30-20 point set to maintain his lead.  However, he only  answered  the first question correctly, bringing his total to 280 points.

Tuan Kiet selected a 20-20-30 set and answered two questions correctly, reaching 120 points. Thuy Lam chose a 20-30-20 set, answered the first question correctly, lost 30 points to Cong Dung on the second, and used her “Star of Hope” on the final question to gain 40 points, finishing with 100.

Khanh Ly made the same choice, but lost 20 points on the first question to Tuan Kiet. She failed to score on the second, and could not capitalize on her “Star of Hope” on the final question, ending up with 25 points. Ultimately, Cong Dung claimed the laurel wreath of Road to Olympia Mount, securing his place in the Month 3 round of Quarter II with a commanding performance.
