VTV.vn - The first ever online trade conference on Vietnamese and Japanese consumer products was held on the morning of June 30 in a bid to support Vietnamese enterprises in boosting their exports to Japan during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nearly 40 Vietnamese enterprises from eight provinces and cities and 55 Japanese enterprises and agencies participated in the event.

Vietnamese enterprises introduced to Japanese distributors and importers various types of products including fruit and vegetables, dry food, confectionery, drinks, dried, frozen and canned seafood, wood products, apparel, plastic products, medical products, and others.

Meanwhile, Japanese experts updated enterprises withimportant guidelines on the procedures and regulations for exporting consumer goods to Japan.

The event is expected to help enterprises overcome the pandemic and stand ready to respond to market developments after after its end as well as boost trade relations between the two sides.

Japan has always been a very important trade partner of Vietnam, being its third largest import and export market.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, import and export revenue between Vietnam and Japan reached US$15.6 billion in the first five months of this year, a slight increase of 2.2% over the same period in 2019.

The conference was jointly held by the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency, the Asia- Africa Market Department, the Vietnam Trade Office in Japan, and the ASEAN-Japan Centre (AJC).
