PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc meets voters in Hai Phong

At the meeting, voters voiced their concerns over numerous issues including food safety and hygiene, water resources safety, damaged water environment, corruption and wastefulness as well as ensuring the rights of consumers and improving the quality of new-style rural areas.

Addressing the meeting, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc appreciated the achievements in socio-economic development of Hanoi Phong, particularly the index of industrial growth and domestic revenue.

He also asked the city to promote and take full advantage of its geographical location and traditions to develop the city, as well as constantly improve both the material and spiritual life of local people.

The PM also urged Hai Phong to innovate the building, improvement and implementation of criteria for new rural areas, aiming to improve the people’s living standards. He emphasised that the Party and State always give priority to the work of building new-style rural areas.

Agreeing with voters’ suggestions, PM Phuc asked for upgrading of the transport infrastructure of the city, particularly railways, contributing to improving the socio-economic development and connection between Hanoi and other provinces and cities.

He also urged drastic measures and specific action plans from relevant ministries, branches and the locality to prevent dirty food as well as raising public awareness of producing, processing and selling safe food.

As a city with strong development of the industrial economy, Hai Phong should pay much attention to environmental protection, said the PM. Regarding serious marine environmental pollution in the central coastal region, he noted that the government has actively directed ministries, branches and related localities to effectively implement remedial measures as well as supervised and asked Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corporation to fully and seriously implement committed responsibilities.

PM Phuc stated that the government was also determined to drastically fight against corruption and wastefulness, as well as correct public service activities.

He expressed his hope that voters and people in Hai Phong would continue to promote their solidarity, supporting the local Party committee and government to reach the target for socio-economic development in 2016.
