The head of government said the incomes and lives of workers have been improving over the years but a significant portion are still suffering from job insecurity, subpar working conditions and low quality of life.
The situation has been exacerbated with the COVID-19 pandemic having severely affected the production and business of enterprises, resulting in substantial impacts to the jobs and lives of many workers, especially in low-skill areas.
Therefore, the PM asked the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs to quickly design a policy to support workers and enterprises hit by Covid-19 and create training programmes to enhance the skills of workers so as to adapt to the changes during and after the pandemic.
He also called on the ministry to fine-tune policies on wages, social insurance and labour safety as well as to advise on reducing working hours in line with the socio-economic situation and revise the list of harmful and dangerous jobs.
In his directive, the government leader asked the Ministry of Health to provide guidelines on calorie and nutrition requirements for workers at industrial and process-export parks.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism was tasked with building effective cultural institutions and organising sports and cultural activities in order to enhance the quality of cultural life.
