Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on the afternoon of June 22 arrived in Myanmar’s capital of Nay Pyi Taw for the seventh Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam (CLMV) Summit and the sixth Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy Summit (ACMECS) on June 22-23. The Vietnamese government leader and his entourage were warmly welcomed at Nay Pyi Taw international airport by Energy Minister U Aung Zay Yar, representatives from the Myanmar Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnam Ambassador to Myanmar Pham Thanh Dung along with other embassy staff.

Under the agenda, PM Dung and his counterparts from Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar attended the seventh CLMV Summit.

Quadripartite cooperation is considered an open mechanism that fully taps advantages and potential availability of member countries and a channel calling support from other ASEAN countries and development partners.

At the 7th CLMV Summit, PM Dung and other leaders will review the process of implementing the Mekong cooperation mechanisms associated with the bilateral cooperation process between countries and promote sustainable development of the Mekong subregion.

The leaders will also assess and revamp the mechanism of cooperation with partners such as the US, Japan, the Republic of Korea (RoK), the Asian Development Bank (ADB) with a view to improving the operational efficiency of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) and elevating the role and status of the CLMV countries in the global production and supply chain.
