PM Chinh leaves Hanoi for ASEAN Summit in Jakarta
Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is scheduled to have bilateral meetings with a number of ASEAN leaders at the summit
VTV.vn - A Vietnamese Government delegation led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh left Hanoi capital on April 23 for Jakarta, Indonesia, to attend a Leaders’ Summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

The summit is scheduled to take place at the Headquarters of the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta capital from April 23 - 24. The meeting is expected to discuss the Myanmar situation, the ongoing process of building a ASEAN community, measures to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the bloc’s external relations.

ASEAN member countries have agreed to host the regional leaders’ gathering to examine the situation in Myanmar after a series of view exchanges and consultations. They have all followed with keen interest and voiced their concerns about recent developments in Myanmar, and agreed to promote ASEAN’s role in seeking solutions to help stabilize the situation in the country.

This is Prime Minister Chinh’s first overseas visit following his election as head of the Vietnamese Government at a recent National Assembly session.

His participation affirms Vietnam’s commitment to strengthen solidarity and mutual assistance with other ASEAN member states, contributing to enhancing the regional bloc’s central role and position in addressing emerging challenges, so as to create a peaceful and favourable environment for sustainable development of each country and the region as a whole.

PM Pham Minh Chinh is expected to have bilateral meetings with a number of ASEAN leaders on the sidelines of the regional leaders’ gathering.
