VTV.vn - The Ministry of Public Security has instructed the Immigration Department to print the place of birth on the observations page of Vietnam’s new ordinary passports starting from September 15.

The ministry also asked Vietnamese representative agencies abroad, which are responsible for issuing passports to Vietnamese citizens, to print such information on the observations page.

At the same time, the ministry will report to the Government and the National Assembly Standing Committee to promulgate a resolution on adding the place of birth to the personal details page of passports issued to Vietnamese citizens.

At a recent press briefing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang said that Vietnamese agencies have worked with foreign embassies on the matter and that for now the place of birth information will be written on the observations page when requested by passport holders.

Vietnam’s Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Public Security have asked countries to work with Vietnam to address the difficulties and soon issue visas for the holders of Vietnam’s new ordinary passports.

The new passports began to be issued on July 1, with the pages featuring famous landmarks in Vietnam such as Ha Long Bay, Hue Citadel, Hung Kings Temple, Hoi An, My Son, Nha Rong Wharf, and Lung Cu Flag Tower.
