VTV.vn - Politburo member and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh, visited and extended Lunar New Year (Tet) greetings at Viet Duc Hospital in Hanoi, on February 8.

Speaking at the meeting, Permanent Deputy PM Minh, who is also Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee, praised the medical staff of Viet Duc Hospital for their efforts in taking care of people's health. Their sense of responsibility and kindness is always upheld, especially in the context that the hospital often has to deal with severe traffic accidents.

As many as 216 traffic accidents occurred nationwide, killing 121 people and injuring 138 others, during the Lunar New Year holiday from January 29 to February 6, reported by the Traffic Police Department. Compared to the same period last year, the number of accidents, fatalities and injured, went down 7.3 percent, 10.4 percent and 17.4 percent, respectively.

Permanent Deputy PM Minh visits and inspects the work of ensuring emergency examinations and treatment of patients, at Viet Duc Hospital's Emergency Department.

According to Professor, Dr. Tran Binh Giang, Director of Viet Duc Hospital, Permanent Deputy PM Minh's encouragement, sharing and assignment of tasks, is the honour and pride of the hospital’s 2,500 medical staff, as well as 2,000 patients being treated here.

The hospital is a special surgical centre and always received the trust from the National Traffic Safety Committee, in the treatment and first aid for patients suffering from traffic or traumatic accidents, he added.

After the working session, Permanent Deputy PM Pham Binh Minh, visited and inspected the work of ensuring emergency examinations and treatment of patients, at Viet Duc Hospital's Emergency Department.

Also on February 8, Permanent Deputy PM Minh visited and sent Tet greetings, to the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre, under the Vietnam Maritime Administration.
