Party General Secretary and President sends letter for new academic year
Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong
Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong extended his sentiments and best wishes to teachers, educational managers and employees who are working in the educational sector, on the occasion of the new school year 2020-2021.

In the letter, he wrote that in the 2019-2020 academic year, although the Covid-19 epidemic has directly and seriously affected the activities of the education sector, with the spirit of "Pause going to school but do not stop studying", the education sector has actively and successfully implemented epidemic prevention and control as well as ensuring the completion of the school year plan.

The academic year gone by was also the last school year to implement the 2016-2020 five-year plan for the education sector, with many positive results. In particular, the successful organisation of the high school graduation exam for 2020 ensuring safety in the context of the Covid 19 epidemic, has been highly lauded by the people, he wrote.

On behalf of Party and State leaders, President Nguyen Phu Trong warmly applauded the great efforts and significant outcomes attained by the educational sector over the past academic year.

In the new school year 2020-2021, as the Covid-19 epidemic may still witness new developments, the education sector should continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the Party and State's undertakings and policies on education and training; overcome all difficulties to implement both epidemic prevention and control as well as organising learning for students as best as possible, he suggested.

Meanwhile, the education sector also should focus on improving the quality of education and training, especially the training of high-quality human resources, to meet the demands of the cause of national industrialisation and modernisation and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The sector should strengthen the education of the nation’s historical and cultural traditions, ethics, lifestyle and revolutionary ideals to students, while building a safe, healthy and friendly education environment, as well as striving to successfully implement the 2021-2025 five-year plan, he wrote.

Party leader-President Trong also expressed his hope that teachers would retain their political stance, moral qualities, passion for the cause of education, and innovation in teaching, thus making greater contributions to the cause of human training. He encouraged students to uphold the nation’s learning traditions and nurture their ambition to emulate good learning practices to become the future masters of the country with a good sense of morality and professionalism. He also expressed his hope that parents continue to work with the education sector to create conditions for their children to learn and practice as best as possible.

He ended his letter by wishing that teachers and educational officials, together with students across the nation, achieve many greater achievements in the new school year.
