Overseas Vietnamese celebrate traditional Tet

VTV.vn - Overseas Vietnamese in many foreign countries held celebrations on January 13 and 14 to welcome the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) 2020.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Laos and the General Association of Vietnamese People in Laos organised a joint meeting in Vientiane on January 14 to celebrate Vietnamese Tet and the traditional relationship between the two countries.

The event saw the presence of Lao Politburo member and Minister of Defence General Chansamone Chanyalath, Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning and Investment Sonexay Siphandone, and Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung, among others.

Ambassador Hung expressed his delight at the special and the great traditional friendship between Vietnam and Laos. He noted that overseas Vietnamese across the world are eager to welcome a happy New Year 2020 amid the stable political and social situation and high economic growth of Vietnam.

Lao General Chansamone Chanyalath extended his best wishes to the Vietnamese people on the occasion of the traditional Vietnamese Tet while affirming that the special traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries will continue to develop further in the future.

*The Vietnamese Embassy in Ukraine also held a gathering in Kiev on January 13 to celebrate the traditional Tet.

The community of overseas Vietnamese from the cities of Kiev, Kharkov, Odesa, Cherkasy, Lvov, Mariupol and Donetsk participated in the event, in addition to Ukrainian war veterans and several Ukrainian agencies and organisations.

*The Vietnamese Embassies in Saudi Arabia and Lithuania also held meetings with overseas Vietnamese to welcome the traditional Vietnamese Tet.
