VTV.vn - More than 40,000 copies of the Lunar New Year (Tet) issue of Nhan Dan Newspaper were presented to soldiers stationed in border areas and remote islands during a ceremony held at Nhan Dan Headquarters in Hanoi on January 22.

The handout of the Tet issue is an annual event jointly held by Nhan Dan Newspaper and many other ministries, provincial People’s Committees, provincial Party Committees, enterprises, and agencies.

Le Quoc Minh, Editor in Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee’s Information and Education Commission cum Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association, said that the Tet issue will be delivered to officers and soldiers who are on duty safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty in remote and island areas.

He noted that this year Nhan Dan presented more than 40,000 copies of the Tet issue to the Border Guard Command, Navy Command, Coast Guard Command, Military Region I Command, Military Region II Command, Military Region III Command, Military Region IV Command, Military Region V Command, Communications Command, Air Defence and Air Force Command, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, and others.

“This is a meaningful spiritual gift from the Party newspaper and sponsors to give encouragement to the soldiers who will welcome Tet in remote areas far from their homes,” Le Quoc Minh added.

On behalf of the recipients, Lieutenant Colonel Mai Xuan Huong from the Naval Political Department expressed thanks to Nhan Dan Newspaper and other donors for organising the activity. He affirmed that the Tet issue with informative content will contribute to enriching the spiritual life of soldiers in remote areas.

On behalf of the sponsors, Tran Quang Dung from the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group expressed his gratitude to Nhan Dan Newspaper for creating conditions for the group to participate in this worthwhile activity.
