Nearly 515,000 tourists visit Hanoi during Tet holidays

VTV.vn - The total number of tourists that travelled to the capital city of Hanoi is estimated to rise by 10.3 percent to 514,866 people during the nine-day Tet holiday, from February 2 to 9, according to the municipal Department of Tourism.

Accordingly, the number of international tourists to Hanoi is estimated at 162,676 visitors, an increase of 15% compared to the same period of 2018, while the number of domestic tourists was estimated at 352,190 visitors, an increase of 8.5% from the same period last year.

The local tourism industry was estimated to earn over VND 2 trillion during the biggest holiday of the year, up 33.3% year on year.

Most of the foreign visitors came from the Republic of Korea, China, Malaysia, the US, the UK, Japan, France, Germany, and Australia.

Most visitors flocked to the city’s popular attractions, such as the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Huong Son landscape complex (also known as the Huong Pagoda), Ngoc Son Temple in the heart of Hoan Kiem Lake, Van Mieu (the Temple of Literature) and Quoc Tu Giam (the first university in Vietnam) and the Vietnam National Villages for Ethnic Culture and Tourism, which hosted a series of art performances and cultural activities to celebrate the traditional New Year.
