According to the VBSP, the bank provided total loans of VND42.5 trillion (US$1.83 billion) in the January-June period while it collected over VND29.6 trillion (US$1.27 billion) from debts during the period.
The preferential loans have contributed to supporting production and business activities, creating jobs for nearly 216,000 workers including 1,900 who are working abroad under definite-term labour contracts.
The loans have also helped nearly 9,000 students in difficult circumstances have opportunities to pursue their studies.
In addition, the bank has provided funding for the construction of 770,000 water supply and sanitation facilities in rural areas and the construction of 11,500 social houses for policy beneficiaries.
The total outstanding loan of the VBSP was reported at over VND219.5 trillion (US$9.7 billion) by the end of June 2020, up 6.2% compared to that in late 2019, with 6.5 million needy households and policy beneficiary families holding loans.
