VTV.vn - The National Press Festival 2019 will take place at the Hanoi Museum on March 15-17, announced the organisation board on March 7.

Themed “Renovated, creative, responsible Vietnamese press for the interest of the nation and people”, the festival is jointly organised by the Vietnam Journalists’ Association (VJA); the Party Central Committee Commission for Communication and Education; the Ministry of Information and Communications; and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

It aims to highlight the achievements of the national reform process and the growth of Vietnam’s revolutionary press, while strengthening the exchange between journalists and the community and honouring individuals, collectives, and enterprises with outstanding contributions to the development of the country’s revolutionary press.

Along with various pavilions organised by central and local media agencies nationwide, the festival also includes a number of seminars and conferences, including those on journalist Huynh Van Tieng, a senior leader of the VJA; the press and culture; the press as a tool connecting business and government; and the training of young journalists.

Within the framework of the festival, many exhibitions will be held, along with activities to mark the establishment of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26).

The organisation board will present awards to the most impressive pavilion; best Tet newspaper cover page; best e-paper display; best Tet (Lunar New Year) TV programme; best scientific research; and best reportage on the environment, climate change, and natural disaster prevention.

The opening of the festival will be aired live on Vietnam Television, while the closing and award ceremony will be broadcast live on the Hanoi TV and Radio Station.
