The 15th National Assembly (NA) fulfilled the entire agenda of its first extraordinary session, lasting for four and a half days, and came to success.

Vice Chairman of the NA Office Vu Minh Tuan made the remark at a press conference held on January 11 afternoon to announce the session’s outcomes.

He noted that with high consensus, the parliament adopted the law amending and supplementing some articles of the Law on Public Investment, the Law on Public - Private Partnership Investment , the Law on Investment, the Law on Housing, the Law on Bidding, the Law on Electricity, the Law on Enterprises, the Law on Special Consumption Tax, and the Law on Enforcement of Civil Judgments. It also ratified four resolutions, namely the resolution on fiscal and monetary policies supporting the socio-economic recovery and development programme, the one on investment in the eastern North - South expressway project for 2021 - 2025, another on piloting some special mechanisms and policies for Can Tho city’s development, and the resolution of the first extraordinary session.

At the conference, NA Secretary General and Chairman of the NA Office Bui Van Cuong, along with representatives of parliamentary agencies fielded questions raised by the press. Regarding the case of COVID-19 test kit overcharging at the Viet A Technologies JSC, Cuong said the resolution of the extraordinary session and remarks by NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue affirmed the parliament’s viewpoint on assigning the Government, all-level authorities, and sectors to perform anti-pandemic tasks.

Those duties include improving the management capacity by State agencies, especially the health sector, over medicine and medical supplies; enhancing control over public procurement as well as the inspection and assessment of the quality of medicine and medical supplies; and early detecting any wrongdoing that takes advantage of the pandemic to seek illegal profit.

The session’s resolution also requested prompt and drastic actions to investigate the irregularities related to the Viet A company and strictly deal with violating organisations and individuals without exceptions, according to Cuong.
