More efforts made in COVID-19 fight

The distribution venues, which are operational until April 25, are located in the six districts of Hoang Mai, Dong Da, Thanh Xuan, Cau Giay, Nam Tu Liem, and Dong Anh.

Speaking at a venue set up at the Dai Kim Secondary School in Hoang Mai district, President of the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRCS) Nguyen Thi Xuan Thu said that the VRCS has worked to support poor and disadvantaged people nationwide, whose livelihood has been badly affected by the COVID-19 epidemic.

She also hailed the Hanoi Red Cross Society for taking prompt and active participation in the VRSC-launched programmes.

In addition to distributing free food to underprivileged people, the Hanoi Red Cross Society has also presented two tonnes of rice, 500 face masks, 500 bottles of hand sanitisers, worth VND130 million in total, and VND30 million in cash to households who are currently under a quarantine order in Ha Loi commune, Me Linh district.

Also this morning, the Hai Duong provincial Fatherland Front Committee received VND150 million from the Huyndai Kefico Vietnam Co. Ltd, a 100% foreign invested company and an affiliate of Hyundai Motor Company Group, the Republic of Korea.

The money was donated by staff officers and workers of the company with a hope to give a helping hand in the fight against COVID-19 in the province.

To date, the provincial Fatherland Front Committee has received more than VND5 billion in cash, as well as necessities and medical supplies totalling VND3 billion for COVID-19 prevention and control, including VND500 million donated by 26 foreign-invested enterprises and foreigners in the locality.

Meanwhile, in Da Nang city on the same day, the Da Nang Young Entrepreneurs' Association donated two ventilators worth VND1 billion to support COVID-19 treatment in the city. The association also handed 1,000 SARS-CoV-2 test kits with a total value of VND500 million to the Da Nang city Centre for Disease Control.
