MoIT assists firms in brand building for safe food
VTV.vn - Food products must be certified as safe by national or international agencies in addition to building brand awareness to win trust from customers, experts said at a workshop on the morning of July 12.

The workshop entitled "Accompanying enterprises in developing safe food brands" was held by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) within the framework of the MoIT's programme on food safety.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai emphasised that food safety attracts special attention from the Party and State as it is crucial to socio-economic development, community health and Vietnam's international integration.

He noted that the MoIT is among three ministries assigned to carry out State management over food safety issues and the MoIT has actively implemented policies in support of enterprises in this area, particularly the streamlining of a large number of business conditions related to food safety.

In addition, the ministry has taken a series of measures to assist enterprises in developing brands to reach domestic and international consumers.

Deputy Director of the MoIT’s Domestic Market Department Le Viet Nga said that the Vietnamese retail market has huge potential for further development thanks to its strong economic growth, the increasing income of the people and improved living standards. This is a good opportunity for the production and trade of safe food, Nga noted.

She emphasised that a strong brand is an essential factor to help safe food become widely known and consumed at good prices and in large quantities.
