VTV.vn - Moc Chau district in the northern province of Son La is eyeing to export 400-500 tonnes of locally grown mangoes, which meet VietGAP standards and have no residues of plant protection products, to the Chinese market in 2019.

Moc Chau is home to more than 940 hectares of mangoes, with over 260 hectares currently under harvest, producing nearly 2,600 tonnes of the fruit per year.

After many years of striving to produce agricultural products towards export, Moc Chau has officially begun to export its mangoes to China via mainstream channels this year which in turn will increase the value of goods and raise income for farmer.

The district has directed the strong acceleration of farm produce consumption, considering exports as a breakthrough stage. Moc Chau has proactively built plans to manage the cultivation areas and provide technical instructions for cooperatives and the people to ensure export standards for their mangoes are met.

According to Tran Xuan Thanh, head of Moc Chau’s agriculture and rural development office, in order to facilitate mango consumption, Moc Chau supported the grant of export mango production unit code to the Thanh Dat fruit cooperative in Chieng Hac commune in 2018.

In the future, Moc Chau will continue to offer support to cooperatives and the people in terms of both techniques and market connectivity, in order to boost the consumption of local mangoes in the most effiecient way.
