Michelin Guide to launch first global hotel key selection in October 2025
VTV.vn - The Michelin Guide has announced that it will release its first-ever global Hotel Key Selection on October 8, 2025.

This marks the expansion of the Guide’s rating system into the hospitality sector on a worldwide scale, following earlier rollouts in 15 major travel destinations throughout 2024 and early 2025.

The Michelin Keys are designed to serve as a new benchmark for hotel quality, paralleling the Michelin Stars in gastronomy. The three-tier Key system—ranging from one to three Keys—reflects increasing levels of distinction in hotel stays. One Key recognizes a hotel offering a particularly special and memorable stay with unique character and attentive service. Two Keys signify a property that delivers an exceptional experience marked by architectural flair, regional character, and thoughtful operation. Three Keys are reserved for truly extraordinary destinations offering outstanding comfort, elegance, and service—hotels considered among the finest in the world.

Alongside the Key distinctions, the Michelin Guide will also present four new Special Awards, each honoring excellence in specific aspects of hospitality. The Architecture & Design Award will recognize hotels that elevate the guest experience through innovative or distinctive design. The Wellness Award will highlight properties that offer comprehensive and pioneering wellness programs. The Local Gateway Award will honor hotels that provide guests with meaningful, immersive connections to the surrounding culture and community. Lastly, the Opening of the Year Award will celebrate newly launched hotels that have made a notable impact in their first year of operation.

Nominee shortlists for each award category will be announced in phases via the Michelin Guide’s official editorial and social media platforms, starting in August and continuing through late September. The final winners will be revealed during a live ceremony in Paris on October 8.

The unveiling event will take place at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, located near the Louvre and the Tuileries Garden. In addition to the digital release, the ceremony will bring together representatives from selected hotels, winners of the Special Awards, industry experts, and members of the international media. The event is intended to showcase the diversity and evolution of global hospitality through a curated selection of notable properties and experiences.
