Mekong Delta faces acute fresh water shortage
VTV.vn - A number of regions in the Vietnamese Mekong Delta have suffered the most serious fresh water shortage in the last 100 years.

Salinity in various rivers and lakes in Rach Gia City, Kien Giang Province is reported to be 15% higher than average, forcing local authority to reduce fresh water supplies for local residents by 25% since April 22nd. So far, there are 22 regions suffering from severe drought and salinization nationwide. Among these, 18 cities and provinces are in serious need of water, and 1.1 million people are in need of additional food. The drought and salinization is forecast to continue until the end of June, worsening the situation in the Mekong Delta region.
