Marine environment protection task stressed on World Ocean Day

Addressing the event, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has asked state agencies and local authorities to intensify the task of protecting national sovereignty and interest at sea and take full advantage of marine resources.

By 2020, marine industries are set to contribute 55% of Vietnam’s GDP and 60% of total trade turnover. The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of environmental protection and asked state agencies to tighten their control over projects that discharge industrial waste into the sea.
