VTV.vn - The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union held a ceremony on March 22 to mark the 92nd anniversary of its foundation and present the Ly Tu Trong Award to 100 outstanding local Youth Union leaders.

The award honours those who have displayed excellent performance in their study and work as well as union affairs and youth movements.

Among the award recipients, which were selected from 179 nominations, there are 19 from minority ethnic groups and the youngest is 24 years old.

Speaking at the programme, President of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front Do Van Chien praised young people for their willingness to undertake difficult tasks as well as their innovation and strong determination to fulfil all assigned missions.

He urged the Youth Union to focus on building a strong cohort of union officials, promoting the youth startup programme, and enhancing digital capacity for young people as ways to realise the aspiration to turn Vietnam into a prosperous country.

Recalling the 92-year history of the Youth Union, First Secretary Bui Quang Huy stated that the 100 Ly Tu Trong awardees are role models in various fields, however they still share the same pioneering spirit and sense of responsibility.

He noted that their initiatives have helped reform the operation of the Youth Union and contributed to addressing a wide range of socio-economic development issues.
